This is textile art! A vintage dough bowl is filled with lifesized pumpkins and gourds. Each vegetable in indiviurally needle felted into it's shape, using the exact color combinations of wool, bee's wax is applied in layers and each layer is sculpted to achieve the right texture. There are 9 differnt gourds in the bowl (30" x 12"); the largest gourd is 19" in diameter and the smallest is 10" in diameter. I used real gourd stems on each piece. This is an ode to gentleman farms, heirloom vegetables and growing your own food, something my family did when I was a child. This sculpture makes a stunning one-of-a-kind centerpiece.
This piece was needle felted from wool and sculpted with wax. Needle felting is the sculpture of raw wool with special needles. Fine details and a strong structure can be accomplished with needle felting.
NOTE: individual pumkins or gourds can be purchased separately at $150 each.
