This is textile art! Needle felted/waxed Silverback gorilla (19"x16"x13"). Materials are wool, bee's wax and glass doll eyes (plants not included).
The Gorilla was made at the same time I made the Chimpanzee for the Jane Goodall Foundation Auction in 2019. I was thinking about conservation and animals and doing what I could to help this cause.
This piece was needle felted from wool and sculpted with wax. Needle felting is the sculpture of raw wool with special needles. Fine details and a strong structure can be accomplished with needle felting.
Needle Felted sculptures should be kept behind glass to protect from dust.
