This is textile art! Needle felted/waxed strawberry and blueberry cake. This piece was needle felted from wool and sculpted with wax. Each seed in the strawberries is a sesame seed inlaid by hand, a very time consuming task, the tops of the strawberries are waxed fabric. The cake is needle felted, waxed and has colored wax dripped on top to look like icing. A very cheerful piece that makes a beautiful kitchen centerpiece. Needle felting is the sculpture of raw wool with special needles. Fine details and a strong structure can be accomplished with needle felting.
